Not stunning a trade failed to go down. Meszaros played poorly, is injury prone and has a bad cap hit/salary combination.

Agree 100%, if he is healthy we might actually see what he can do...without him playing for almost 2 years it might take him a bit, but I think at the end of the season we are going to be glad neither he nor Grossman was traded to make cap room...

i didn't want grossmann getting moved. i hope meszaros can stay healthy and regain his form. his a good offensive weapon - not really sure what we can expect from streit in that regard. we need points from the blueline.

I like the Gil signing only from the facts that it adds depth, he is a good locker room guy and is cheap against the cap...what I saw in the pre-season does not lead me to believe he will see much ice time and should hopefully spend most of the season as a healthy scratch.

I liked Gill when with the Habs...
He throws himself in front of the puck!
Only knock is his foot speed. Good guy to have in the room though by all accounts. And as you said... cheap!

Not excited about this team going in, but content. Let's see what they can do. Have enough captains and a few vets to keep up the motivation, which was great when the Flyers first missed the playoffs in the mid 00's and came out the following year like a beast. Can't wait!

Hard to disagree with this, J. Mez has some kick left in him, and I don't want to see him get back his mojo for some other team. Grossman is also key. Can we please stay healthy for just one year? Not too much to ask for a Winter Olympics year?

Already have our Flyers/Ducks tickets for late January sitting in the dresser drawer. Hope to see them all out there, with no injuries!

I guess we will see tonight. Toronto is playing a back 2 back tonight and had a TOUGH game last night against the Habs...each team had 32 shots and there were rushes each way. If our forwards can't backcheck against a team that should not be 100%..this me be an idicator that they will be a defensive liability like last year...this is a game they SHOULD win...

Any particular reason why Mason gets the start and not Emery - is he hurt?

Might be a speed issue, after watching Toronto rush the wing last night, I think Lavi thinks Mason's speed across the crease is slightly better than Emery and may work better against Toronto..

They also have 3 games this week, so both will be used I am sure.
